Civil Rights left to a vote?

I can't believe I've been missing this hypocrisy.

Why are civil rights being left to a vote? How is that fair?

i believe women's suffrage - put to vote. emancipation of slaves - put to vote...
civil rights and the laws protectign them should be representative of the people... so we vote. that's how it's done. sucks, but that's how it goes. nate can probably say that more eloquently.

Libertarian Party on Civil Rights

Support individual’s right to choose, even if we disapprove
Individuals should be free to make choices for themselves and to accept responsibility for the consequences of the choices they make. No individual, group, or government may initiate force against any other individual, group, or government. Our support of an individual’s right to make choices in life does not mean that we necessarily approve or disapprove of those choices.

Repeal all laws against homosexuality
We advocate the repeal of laws regarding consensual sexual relations, including prostitution, and the cessation of state harassment of homosexuals; [and] the repeal of laws prohibiting the distribution of sexually explicit material.

Well then...I guess I'm just a vicious dictator who believes things should be forced through.

Again, military mindset.
