A "child's" point of view

Is it better to live in a fairy tale and have the optimism that change will make this country a better place in time, or continue to pretend we're in a constant nightmare; complaining and crying over every little bit of movement?

Mom made a good point yesterday about earmarks. She said that the legislation for healthcare is moving too fast for anybody to counter any possible pork in the bill. I say, why worry about it? Can we not just trust the people we elected to not screw us over?

I say, smile and have faith, always prepared for the worst, and remember that we still live with one of the highest qualities of life in the world and things in this country have a LONG way to go before we start actually feeling pain.

Now this is getting ridiculous.

" I say, why worry about it? Can we not just trust the people we elected to not screw us over?" - when this comes to pork and spending, do you really have faith in any representative, regardless of political ideology?

Serious dude, just pretending everything is ok and being optimistic is not the way to get things done. Believeing in what you want, and believing it is right is the first step.

"I say, smile and have faith, always prepared for the worst"

Again, shouldn't we at least be looking for a real answer, and not just hoping that whatever Obama says in a press conference will be the way, no questions asked? Isn't that what he preached? Ask questions, look for change in how government is run? I don't remember him ever telling the american public, "don't you worry, I'll take care of it, just go about your life's and I will be sure you are just fine"

your comment, "She said that the legislation for healthcare is moving too fast for anybody to counter any possible pork in the bill. I say, why worry about it? Can we not just trust the people we elected to not screw us over?", really proves that you either don't understand, or do not wish to understand what is going on, and would rather sit back and receive whatever the gov't believes you should receive...

tell you what, why work, just sit around...don't be a productive part of society, but rather just use societies resources as you see fit, or how the gov't sees fit.
