Why is it that so many Christians are so quick to scream at the top of their lungs about other religious practices, when those other religions often don't say a word against Christianity?
It reminds me of the time in Congress when a Hindu Chaplain was leading the opening prayers and a whole swatch of delegation began praying over him and screaming condemnation towards the Chaplain.
This is really just me fuming, so don't think I'm going all gung-ho anti-christian. I'm not. Jesus said and did some amazing things and having spent a good chunk of my life worshipping him, I respect the man a lot. I'm just angry at the level of intolerance that is such a strong part of the religion. Why is it that in islam, we are told repeatedly that there is no compulsion in religion and that many paths exist that lead to God, yet many Christians are constantly evangelizing and their children are taught that worshipping Jesus is the only way?

small percentage dude, small percentage...
take a step back and really look at the situation...a small percentage of muslims were praying, while a small number of christians were protesting...
it was a good idea to have the prayer and open sermon...if anything more of that would allow for more people to see the similarities of the religious teachings...
actually I think your last statement if unbelievable...and you are wrong...
christianity has "different" paths to god, but believes jesus to be god, gods son, and a savior (depending on the sect..i.e. catholics believe jesus to be all three at once...)
islam based from you, has different paths to god...but Mohammed is still his profit right?
This is where you need to take a step back...look at both sides in an even light :-)
Why'd you spell it 'profit'?
weirdo :)
religion loses luster forcefully taught.
better to explore and discover in my opinion.

Islam doesn't say we have to follow Muhammad. It is recommended that we follow his examples, as he was a NEAR perfect man. Just like Jesus (ISA)...blessings be upon them.
We do not worship Muhammad. We worship God. Christians do worship Jesus.
A Muslim, according to the Shahada, must only accept that Muhammad was indeed a great prophet of God. That's it. Nothing about "only getting to Heaven through him," as Christians believe about Jesus. Even though Jesus never meant it that way...but that's another issue.
So, taking a step back...I'm still seeing Christianity bathed in a intolerant light.
Bryan,
you are not seeing the point. I only said that christians believe in jesus...jesus as either the son of god or god himself...
I then said mohammed is the "prophet" in Islam...it is what you believe...you do not worship him...
either way, I think you should really drop this anti-christian line of thinking, even though I am not a christian myself, I think it is offensive that you go against the religion with such passion as you do now...
I'm not understanding...
"So, taking a step back...I'm still seeing Christianity bathed in a intolerant light." , umm, take a HUGE step back bro...the same percentage, at least if not more, of Islam is just as intolerate of ppl as Christians...so don't start that crap, please...
"Nothing about "only getting to Heaven through him," as Christians believe about Jesus. Even though Jesus never meant it that way...but that's another issue."...
and I think you need to really get back into exploring Christianity, and remember what is actually being taught...
you are only seeing one side of the story, and you are blsting a huge number of people based on a small number of idiots...its like me calling all muslims terrorist...
damn it, I said I wasn't trying to be anti-christian and I was merely fuming. Cheez-its and rice!
wow...
just because some one says, "I'm not trying to be offensive" doesn't mean what they say isn't offensive...
Sorry bro, but you were a little mean with the comments, completely taking away from the point you were trying to make...actually, I'm not even sure what the original point was...
My original question is, why do more Christians protest than the other religions?
well, remember all those near or actual riots for the depiction of mohammed in a cartoon?
or how about seeing it from the other side, like I've been trying to say, in that you take a religion that was very influencial in every part of life early in our country's history, is now being cut down little by little, and they are always told, "you have to be more accepting of other religions"...
think the method and words used towards christianity in this country is and has been the major reason for protest...
plus one last point, you are making one hell of a generalization...all those years of you being a christian how many protest did you go to, or did you see your church or parents, or family participating in?
Well, the protests done about Muhammad were done because the religion itself was insulted. Hopefully, they were not done toward any other religion.
I am speaking in generalizations because I am talking about canon.
Therefore, I drop this conversation because nobody here is a scholar and all we're doing is angering Bryan.
Bry,
The phrasing of your question should be as such, "Do Christians protest more than others?"
Allowing for a yes or no argument makes for a debate of substance,
otherwise you are insinuating based upon a personal observation, something of which is biased by your personal religious views, thusly, quite irrevocably causing myself to take up arms in PROTEST!!
There is a constant flow of 'God' in everything, seeking expression in each of us, the discontent you see in people is the spirit of 'God' or 'the way', urging the human species to want more desirable conditions, resulting in protest as a means of achieving their own biased accord.

Brian: Excuse me. Are you the Judean People's Front?
Reg: Fuck off! We're the People's Front of Judea
No. I'm becoming a scholar on Islam...just need to get accredited. Hmm...have I just figured out my major?
But I don't know enough about the dynamics of christianity upon society yet.
I've just noticed that most of the world went crazy when the Roman Empire converted. lol.
I love generalizations.
I deon't know what the world would be like without pork bellies, and I wouldn't want to live in such a world.
Bryan, keep going and keep learning. Happy you have such a strong and growing devotion.
Although I think the way history books and most reading is written, Christianity's impact on the world is more than apparent...otherwise we wouldn't have "in God We Trust" or "One Nation Under God" and "God Bless America"...list can go on, and thats only the US...
I find Anynomous' comment anti-semetic...
OK guess I missed all the fun. To put my 2 cents in, I find that atheists protest against Christians much more readily that they protest against Muslims or Jews. Christians are easy targets in that there are so many different kinds of them. You know, Catholic, Lutheran, Baptist, Methodists, Presbyterians, Evangelicals, etc. But the ACLU protects the atheists because they have a right to free speech. This is a complex topic. And I missed the protest...did it make Fox News????
