To quote Chief Wiggum in a recent episode of the Simpsons:
"I'm hearing a lot of problems and no solutions!" (He had belted himself to a lightpole.
All the things mentioned can be dealt with. I'm no expert of fixing things, but all the complaints in this story come across to me as laziness. Unwillingness to adapt.
I also want to say that this will keep kids off the streets longer, and keep them from idle activities. As a man who was once a pot-smoking teenager: Summertime was the perfect time to stay up late doing illegal activity, sleeping in and letting my brain turn to mush and then spending whatever days I wasn't working my ass off at Dominos staring at the television or doing other illegal activities. Looking back on it, I wish school had lasted longer. It would have given my teachers more time to get to know me and mentor me. It would have also allowed more stuff to be learned. Why is it that every year we were never able to get through an entire text book?
There's my opinion. More time in the classroom. More time to read the entire text book above the influence of bad things.
